All activities will be in the Holiday Inn: programs, exhibits, sales area, and the food is contracted for very reasonable prices with the hotel. When you call to reserve your rooms, be sure and mention AAAPF for the special discounted rate. They also boast the largest swimming pool in the U.P. Shuttles or taxis can easily be arranged to bring you to the hotel from the airport - "MQT" f you are coming to visit the UP (Michigan's Upper Peninsula) for the first time, you are in for a treat. We have clean, sweet air, & great tasting water. Lake Superior is the largest, cleanest inland lake in the world. Marquette http://www.mqtcty.org/ is a town with old time charm, full of art galleries, good restaurants (fresh whitefish a feature!), a charming vintage restored hotel (Landmark Inn) www.thelandmarkinn.com , beautiful harbors and natural beauty. We are also a geological treasure with the broadest array of rocks & minerals you'll find anywhere! Nearby Presque Isle park has some of the oldest exposed rock in the world; (ancient volcanic black basalt) and remnants of the earliest life forms (stromatolites) on the north cove. Downtown's Lower Harbor is beautiful with wooden play structures for kids, art installations, and boasts a huge old ore dock as well as commercial fishing, and pleasure boats coming and going. I've included a little collage of waterfront photos here...just a small taste of the beautiful area!
